After a clean first half in which Aaron Rodgers passed Brett Favre on the all-time career passing touchdown list, the second half began with an awful mistake as he threw his first interception of Week 3. The Pittsburgh Steelers had stolen momentum from the New England Patriots with a Brandin Echols interception in the endzone to close the first half, but nearly gave it right back to start the second half.
While the interception stung, it was made a bit worse thanks to who snagged the pass, former Steeler linebacker Robert Spillane.

Facing heavy pressure, Rodgers tossed an ill-advised pass down the seam looking for Calvin Austin III, but Spillane was lurking in the middle of the field. Thankfully, Patrick Queen was able to force the second fumble of the contest from Rhomandre Stevenson on the goalline, which Pittsburgh recovered.
Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers LB Robert Spillane haunts former team with interception
Spillane made his name with the Steelers after spending his rookie season with now Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and the Tennessee Titans. His meeting with Derrick Henry at the goalline granted him notoriety that has blossomed into a solid NFL career.
Spillane played on the Steelers' defense from 2019 to 2022, starting 16 games and racking up 191 tackles, three sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception. He left in free agency as the Steelers overhauled the linebacker room in 2023 to bring in Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander.
Over the past two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, Spillane started all 34 games, totalled 301 tackles, and forced six turnovers. His interception of Rodgers marked his seventh career interception.

At the time of writing, Spillane has 10 total tackles, a TFL, and a pick, outpacing his previous games against the Steelers while he was with the silver and black in Las Vegas.
Spillane may not be with Pittsburgh anymore, but he’s garnered plenty of league respect through the years after beginning his career as an undrafted free agent, and many Steelers fans extend that same respect to him. Of course, that doesn’t mean anyone in Pittsburgh is thrilled he snagged an interception off of Rodgers this time around..
