The Pittsburgh Steelers entered this game looking to get back in the win column, as they dropped three of their last four games. The Steelers held a late 20-9 lead over the rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, all while starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers exited with a left hand injury. The last thing the Steelers could afford was for them to lose another star player.
Enter Jalen Ramsey.
In the fourth quarter, Ramsey got into a scuffle with Bengals star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, who grabbed the Steelers cornerback by the facemask with both hands. Later on, Ramsey threw a punch at Chase. Ramsey had to be separated by coaches and teammates. The on-field officials issued Ramsey a personal foul and an automatic ejection.

Jalen Ramsey ejected from game for throwing punch at Ja'Marr Chase
That was the last thing the Steelers needed, one of their top players on defense being out of the mix at the tail end of a game where they led by just 11 points. Luckily, the Steelers extended their lead to 34-12 at the two-minute warning after a five-yard Kenneth Gainwell touchdown reception and a James Pierre 33-yard fumble recovery touchdown.
Ramsey wasn't the only player penalized. Chase also received a personal foul for unsportsmanlike conduct, but since Ramsey received one too, they offset. But Ramsey throwing the punch was the difference maker, and he was automatically thrown out of the game.
Considering Ramsey threw a punch, one has to wonder if he will be further disciplined in the form of an ejection. Let's not forget about last week, where Washington Commanders defensive lineman Daron Payne was ejected for throwing a punch at Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Payne was suspended for one game, and it was upheld after an appeal.
Ramsey recorded four tackles and one pass breakup before getting thrown out.
Ramsey's ejection didn't hold huge ramifications in the game, but it could if the NFL steps in and decides to issue the cornerback a suspension.
UPDATE: Ramsey spoke with reporters after the game and claimed that Chase had spit on him.
"After the first little thing before, he tried to crack-block me, I got up off that. When he got up talking s***, he snatched my mouthpiece off my facemask, and that's when I pushed his facemask...The refs told us 'chill, no more of this...'
"The next play, same s*** we were talking s***, which I'm cool with. As soon as he spit, it was 'f*** that.' I'm not going to tolerate that part. I'm sure the NFL...they've got 100 cameras out there, they can see everything. What I told you is facts."
Chase claimed after the game that he didn't spit on Ramsey.
