Future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers for what feels like months, but there has seemingly been little to no movement on that front. The Steelers are seemingly still in on Rodgers, but nothing has been finalized.

Even as the 2025 NFL Draft is now almost a full month in the rear-view mirror, everyone still believes that Rodgers will be in black and goldat some point. Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, who coached Rodgers to an MVP, believes this pairing will eventually come to fruition.

LaFleur said that he expects Rodgers to join the Steelers at some point in the immediate future, giving this player-team pairing even more validity. What is the hold up, Aaron? Let's get pen to paper already!

Matt LaFleur believes Aaron Rodgers will join Steelers

It doesn't take a master of football analysis to see that Pittsburgh's quarterback room is lacking at the moment. Career backup Mason Rudolph would likely be the starter if Rodgers does not sign, though rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard can't be discounted as someone who could earn some playing time.

While there has been a downgrade in his play, Rodgers did throw for almost 4,000 yards and 28 touchdowns on a Jets team that was as painful an experience to watch as having knitting needles jammed in your ears. Pittsburgh would provide him with a much more productive system.

Rodgers may not have the same level of star power that he did under LaFleur, but the level of competency he can provide under center exceeds what both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields put on display in the 2024 season. That could be enough to extend Pittsburgh's streak of consecutive winning seasons under Tomlin.

Steelers fans, Rodgers supporters, and NFL fans who are simply sick of hearing his name every five seconds would likely be behind the legendary signal-caller finally picking his next team. Going to the Steelers brings some major risks with it, including some that could torpedo the season, but he still has enough skill left in his throwing arm to get this team back on track.
