The Pittsburgh Steelers kicked off the NFL's two-day negotiating period with a bang, only with a trade. They acquired veteran wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts in a late-round pick swap, addressing a major offseason need early and properly.
Pittsburgh is reportedly also signing Pittman to a three-year, $59 million contract extension immediately upon his arrival. The money tells us they're fired up about adding him, and his social media activity is a clear sign that the feeling is mutual.
Pittman is ostensibly eager to join one of the most storied franchises in American sports. His instant three-word reaction to landing with the Steelers on X (formerly known as Twitter) speaks volumes.

Michael Pittman Jr. can't contain excitement about the Pittsburgh Steelers' trade
Do you think Pittman is itching to don the black and gold?
As Steeler Nation needed another reason to be excited to have him. His infectious injection of enthusiasm is the icing on the cake of what he figures to offer on the field and in the locker room.
A proven producer and respected leader, Pittman has the makings of a potential fan-favorite in Pittsburgh. He's a versatile playmaker and a capable, willing blocker. His talent is matched by a selfless, team-first mentality that is evident before even taking a snap for the Steelers.
It's easy to see why Pittman is looking forward to representing the Steelers. He got paid and steps into an offense that will lean on him. Moreover, his possession, chain-moving skill set is a great complement to their No. 1 wideout, D.K. Metcalf, who's best deployed as a field-stretcher.
Few pass-catchers have been as consistent as Pittman over the past five seasons. He ranks ninth in receptions (445) and 17th in receiving yards (4,751) since 2021. The 28-year-old gives whoever winds up being the Steelers' quarterback in 2026 — and beyond — a reliable target.
Across 17 games this past campaign, Pittman caught 80 passes for 784 yards and a career-high seven touchdowns. He was a Colts mainstay for six seasons. Nevertheless, Alec Pierce re-upping with Indy on a four-year, $114 million deal all but ended their partnership, paving the way for Pittsburgh to swoop in.
Now, the attention turns to who will be throwing Pittman and Metcalf the ball. Will four-time MVP signal-caller Aaron Rodgers return, or will the Steelers look elsewhere?
