The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their third straight game and now might have just kissed the AFC North title goodbye. The Steelers fell 29-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs and there wasn't a lot to celebrate during the game. The Steelers scored just 10 points on offense and the defense allowed for K.C. to score nearly 30 points. It wasn't a good showing for a team that's headed to the playoffs.
When talking to the media following the game, Tomlin didn't hold back when blasting his team's performance. He needed just seven words to sum up what happened on the field during the team's Christmas Day game.
"You know, that sucked, to be blunt," Tomlin said.
Yeah, it sure did.
Mike Tomlin says the Steelers' loss "sucked"
Unfortunately for the Steelers, their loss paired with a potential Ravens win later on Christmas Day, means they'll no longer be leading the AFC North. If the Ravens win out on the year, they'll win the AFC North and the Steelers would have to play as a wild card during the playoffs.
Mike Tomlin's teams might not have losing seasons but it's been a while since they've made any sort of splash during the playoffs. Fans were hoping that would change this year but unfortunately this team is spiraling at the worst possible time.
No one should be surprised to hear Tomlin speak so openly about his team's performance. They were at home on a short week against a banged up Chiefs team and couldn't get anything done on offense. It was a sad effort from a team that had a ton to play for.
The Steelers now have a long week off before they hit the road for their regular-season finale against the Bengals.
