Mike Tomlin’s precious Steelers streak is still alive (but who even cares now)

Tomlin's non-losing season streak couldn't feel more pointless right now.

While it is admirable that Mike Tomlin has never endured a losing season as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, it is also a massive problem. The ongoing streak remains on the right course despite the Steelers' ugly loss against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10 of the season.

Pittsburgh shrank in that performance, and it showed that more of the same would be done, just like in prior years.

There is a certain pride that Steelers teams have shown over the years in order to keep Tomlin's 'non-losing season' streak intact. It is pointless, as teams in the middle, like the Steelers, struggle to get out of the quicksand. They're stuck there with Tomlin as their top coach. You can blame him, the owner, the general manager, or the players. One trait keeps recurring, and it's Tomlin's inconsistencies.

Fans are furious, and for good reason. This season has been full of a rollercoaster of emotions. The ups and downs of a schedule are expected, but going from a 4–1 record to a 5–4 finish is a tough look. The Baltimore Ravens are already breathing down their neck, and we aren't even into December. Tomlin might look angry after their latest loss, but he just wants to put on a show.

Nothing will get easier for the Steelers as the schedule pushes deeper. They face one of the toughest schedules to close out the season, including four divisional games that will define their campaign. If they fail to win those four matchups, expect Pittsburgh to go berserk. They want to see postseason success, but it appears more of the same will emerge from this team.

Perhaps Tomlin was angry after the game, but he has no one else to blame but himself. The team claims they are 'all in,' but they failed to acquire much before the trade deadline. They don’t know which direction to take because they’re afraid of interfering with Art Rooney II’s plan. He wants a playoff win this year, and Tomlin would be foolish to even think that's a remote possibility.

You would like to see Tomlin and Omar Khan's seats get hot if this trend continues this season.

They haven't won anything; in fact, they have only kept Tomlin's useless streak going. The Steelers should not accept these shortcomings, but Rooney fails to see the truth. There is only one factor for Tomlin to uphold ‘the standard’ in Pittsburgh, and that is not losing and keeping the team in uncertainty.

Steelers Nation needs to wake up and realize that more wins are coming, but not to get their hopes too high. A playoff victory is unlikely this year unless the team undergoes significant changes. The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to ride the rollercoaster of the schedule, and they can't break the curse. We are tired of this trend under Tomlin's direction, but don't expect the owner to fire him anytime soon.
