The Pittsburgh Steelers, on their seventh attempt in a row, failed to win a postseason game, losing to the Houston Texans 30-6 in a game where the Aaron Rodgers-led offense looked as overwhelmed and anemic as possible.

Mike Tomlin, who is now out the door, likely realized how much work this roster needs to even think about competing in the playoffs. There are several significant holes to fill this offseason. The NFL Draft will be their best opportunity to check some of those boxes off.

These five holes on the Pittsburgh roster are glaring and obvious, and it would behoove the Steelers to focus most of their attention on trying to get these boxes checked as they gear up for another run at a division crown.

5 NFL Draft needs Steelers must address

5. Offensive Line

The left side of the line is a question mark. Isaac Seumalo is a free agent, and Broderick Jones has been so up-and-down that it might not be the worst idea in the world to spend some Day 3 capital on backups who could push either of those starters.

4. Interior Defensive Line

Cam Heyward is one of the best in the business, but he may have played his final game. Even after using a first-round pick on Derrick Harmon, more playmakers are needed here. Houston showed it isn't hard to run the ball effectively against this defense.

3. Safety

The Steelers invested a ton in their secondary in the most recent offseason, but Darius Slay was a huge flop, and Jalen Ramsey didn't have the impact they imagined. Tomlin and the front office need to keep getting younger, and a new starting safety duo would go a long way toward achieving that goal.

2. Wide Receiver

The Steelers' receiver room consisted of DK Metcalf, the ghost of Adam Thielen, and a bunch of flotsam in 2025, and that is simply not going to get the job done in a deeper AFC. Wide Receiver needs to be addressed in the first two rounds, and multiple receivers should be added.

1. Quarterback

Rodgers is going to be 43 next season, and the game looks to have passed him by. The options for replacing him are grim, especially in a thin NFL Draft class, but Pittsburgh needs to pick someone up if they are unable to find someone on the veteran free agent market.
