There is something to be said about the Pittsburgh Steelers' revolving door at quarterback for the past few years.
Somehow, head coach Mike Tomlin has still been able to will this team to the postseason more often than not. But, Pittsburgh hasn't been able to do anything in the playoffs. That's the problem. Once there, they fizzle out.
If this team had a solution at quarterback, maybe they'd become legitimate contenders.
Going into the 2025 offseason, there aren't many solutions at the position. This offseason is not a good one for teams needing a quarterback, and the Steelers might find themselves running it back with either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields.
But, there's another option that might just make sense. With the recent reports of the New York Jets not bringing back Aaron Rodgers for the coming season, it's now time to wonder where his next destination might be.
NFL insider James Palmer tried to make sense of the Steelers being an option, and although some don't think it's going to happen, he doesn't seem to believe the door is totally shut. In a recent update on some key names, Palmer busted the door wide open for Pittsburgh and Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers may be an option for the Steelers in 2025
"This has been shot down several times, but if you look at it from a different angle, it does kind of make sense and that's Pittsburgh," Palmer started.
Does Rodgers actually make sense with the Steelers?
"They're sitting here in a position where they've been continuously playing in the middle of the AFC. They're a playoff team, but they never get further than that. And they've been kind of trying to Band-Aid their quarterback position every single year, post-Ben Roethlisberger," he went on.
More Steelers news:
He has a point, there. Fans know it all too well. This team has not figured out a way to get the quarterback position right, but Rodgers would again be another short-term solution.
"This would be the ultimate Band-Aid ... could that be a landing spot? Possibly," he said.
So, Pittsburgh doesn't look to be completely out of the question when it comes to Rodgers' next team.
Does it make more sense to keep Wilson or Fields instead of Rodgers? How much more does the veteran have left in the tank? Last season, Rodgers looked like he was done. But, that also could have been due to some lingering injuries he played through.
We might not know the full story to last season with Rodgers in New York. But, that also doesn't necessarily mean he's the best possible option for Pittsburgh.
We'll have to see how this one plays out.
