As the Pittsburgh Steelers inch closer to April and the NFL Draft, they still have some massive questions as to who the quarterback for this team in 2026 will be. Right now, there is no answer.
Aaron Rodgers has been radio silent as of late. We don’t know what his plans are for 2026, and it is leaving the Steelers in a tight spot.
With the draft now almost here, it is hard to figure out what the Steelers can and should do at quarterback. Do they move on and draft Ty Simpson? Do they truly roll with Will Howard as their starter? Or do they continue to give in to Rodgers ridiculous antics?
As a fan of this team, it feels like a far fall from grace, as the Steelers are desperate and Rodgers has them wrapped around his finger.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten desperate for a decrepit Aaron Rodgers
If Rodgers comes back in 2026, he is back for just one more season. We also saw the ceiling of the team with Rodgers at the helm.
Simply put, the Steelers should have set a hard deadline to get an answer from Rodgers as to what he wants to do. Since they didn’t, we are stuck in the same garbage cycle that we were in last offseason.
This used to be a franchise that was sought after to play for. Now we are chasing an elderly quarterback with no upside or long-term prospects.
Of course, this team needs an answer at quarterback for 2026. That is certainly a difficult topic for the team. That said, we aren’t making any significant moves in the right direction by desperately hanging around for Rodgers.
Personally, I would have already washed my hands of Rodgers. If he can’t commit to the team at this stage of the offseason, then I don’t want him here.
I would have signed a low-end veteran with a small chance that I could rejuvenate their career. Add in a mid-round guy, and you can have a truly open competition for who starts. I doubt this works out, but it’s the best option they have.
Instead, we will continue to hang around and wait for Rodgers to make a decision. It feels desperate and disappointing for this team.
