The Pittsburgh Steelers have more than a receiver problem on their first Week 6 injury report. Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek will miss Sunday’s game at Tampa Bay. Wilson and Skowronek left the Colts game with injuries, and Michael Pittman Jr. is already on injured reserve.

The official October 14 report lists Jalen Ramsey (wrist), Wilson (finger), Skowronek (calf), and Keeanu Benton (ankle) as nonparticipants. Rico Dowdle (toe), DeShon Elliott (knee), and Jamel Dean (ankle) were limited. T.J. Watt was limited, and Cameron Heyward did not practice during veteran rest day.

* Injured reserve/designated to return

Mike McCarthy confirmed Wilson and Skowronek won’t play Sunday, which says more than missing Wednesday practice. The report has no game designation yet for Ramsey or Benton, and Dean’s limited work doesn’t clear him for the Buccaneers. Elliott remains on injured reserve despite practicing, so Pittsburgh must activate him before he can play.

Pittsburgh Steelers have decisions on both sides of the ball

Benton’s ankle is the defensive line's biggest concern. Derrick Harmon’s move to injured reserve already put more on Benton. If Benton can’t go, Heyward and the rest of the interior rotation would have to absorb another absence. Sebastian Joseph-Day and Yahya Black are among the alternatives; both stepped up during the win over the Colts.

The back end has its own lineup decisions to sort through. Ramsey sat with his wrist issue, while Dean managed limited work after missing the Colts game. The recent cornerback scramble gives Patrick Graham a reason to watch both closely, but Ramsey has played through his injury. Ramsey can help outside or around the slot and safety; moving him to cover one vacancy can create another. Elliott’s return would help at safety, but limited practice and roster activation are separate steps.

On offense, Germie Bernard and Brandon Smith stand to get more receiver work alongside DK Metcalf. Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington give McCarthy a way to use two tight ends when a third wideout isn’t needed.

Dowdle’s limited participation keeps another backfield option in view, though it says nothing definitive about Jaylen Warren’s workload. If it were up to me, the Offensive Player of the Week would keep getting the ball just as much, even if Dowdle returns. Thursday’s report should show whether Ramsey and Benton return to practice and whether Dean, Elliott, and Dowdle can do more.
