The Pittsburgh Steelers are sick of hearing about the status of Aaron Rodgers... and it shows. After the first session of Steelers' OTAs, the media asked veteran Cam Heyward if he'd prefer Rodgers be there with the team if he has the intention of signing. His response could have been predicted.

“I don’t care," Heyward told the media after practice, via Mark Kaboly. "Who says you can't be better if you aren't here. To each his own."

Talk about a nonchalant comment from the veteran-most leader of the Steelers, and it lines up with responses Heyward has given this offseason about the state of the team. This is exactly what we could have anticipated. Heyward's response to the question has the exact feel of a man who has been asked one too many times about Rodgers this offseason.

Heyward is a professional in every sense of the word, and he's not going to blatantly bash a quarterback who could end up leading the charge for his team during the 2025 season. But you could just sense the frustration as Heyward was asked about Rodgers for the umpteenth time. The veterans within the Steelers' locker room want to bring the attention back to football and the players who are in the building, not those who don't care to be there.

The Pittsburgh Steelers can thank Cam Heyward for being the voice of the team

Most teams with a franchise quarterback will let their signal-caller do the talking for their franchise. Unfortunately, the Steelers are about to have their fifth straight season with a new starting quarterback, and we still don't know who will be under center in 2025. Thankfully, Cam Heyward is here to speak on behalf of the team.

Heyward's response to the Aaron Rodgers question is no doubt what every other player is thinking. The players who are at the facility are the ones the team needs to focus on. At 36 years old, entering his 15th NFL season, Heyward is still leading by example and showing the young bucks the importance of operating as a team.

Whether Rodgers elects to do this or not, we know that he's still the best option for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025. Heyward made it clear that he doesn't care that Aaron Rodgers isn't at Steelers OTAs, and neither should we.
