If Aaron wants him...

It's almost Week 1, and the Pittsburgh Steelers could still be looking at making additional moves. After they finish the final roster cuts, Pittsburgh will still likely be busy finalizing some loose ends here and there.

One of those loose ends could come at the wide receiver position, especially since there is a general consensus that the Steelers could use a bit more talent there for Aaron Rodgers. And, as of Tuesday morning, the Steelers were given one of their first real, interesting opportunities to do just that.

The New York Jets have officially released wide receiver Malachi Corley just one season into his NFL career. The Jets' 2024 third-round pick out of Western Kentucky had a rough first year and a half in New York.

Aaron Rodgers once offered high praise for Malachi Corley, and the Pittsburgh Steelers might listen

Rodgers once called Corley his "favorite" wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft and took it even further when he offered the youngster a place to live as a rookie. Corley went on record saying he thought Rodgers was "going to be my dog" while in New York.

The two of them clearly shared a bond, but should the Steelers proceed with caution? Corley was hardly involved at all in his first year, finishing with just three catches for 16 yards. He's known among Jets fans for fumbling woes and bad hands. That's ... not great.

At times, a player just needs a change of scenery. Maybe playing alongside Rodgers, in Pittsburgh, could be the change he needs. Then again, some players simply don't make the transition from college to the NFL.

Corley was as exciting a player, coming out of the 2024 class, as there was. He made a living on quick passes, even dubbing himself the "YAC king" thanks to his ability to gain yards after the catch. If we remember Rodgers' days with the Packers, he had another teammate who was pretty good at executing on those quick passes in Randall Cobb.

Does Corley make sense for the Steelers as a potential flier? Maybe. We'll have to see if the veteran quarterback gets into the ear of Omar Khan.
