The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to see the most stable parts of the Mike Tomlin coaching staff split off to new ventures around the league.

New head coach Mike McCarthy is only keeping three coaches on staff from Tomlin’s: QB coach Tom Arth, inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley, and strength & conditioning coach Justus Galac. After watching long-time names like Danny Smith, Karl Dunbar, and Teryl Austin move on from Pittsburgh, Steelers fans saw one more name leave on Tuesday.

According to NFL Insider Tom Pelissero, former Steelers running back coach Eddie Faulkner has accepted a job with the rival Baltimore Ravens in the same role.

Ex-Pittsburgh Steelers RB coach Eddie Faulkner lands with Baltimore Ravens

Faulkner spent seven seasons in Pittsburgh, where he helped names like James Connor, Najee Harris, and Jaylen Warren succeed out of the backfield. Only Harris secured a 1,000-yard rushing season, four-straight in fact, under Faulkner’s direction. Of course, Warren fell just 42 yards shy of that mark in 2025, but he has had over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in two of his four seasons in the NFL.

Also on Faulkner’s resume is the 2025 team MVP, Kenneth Gainwell, who, in his first season with the franchise, picked up over 1,000 yards from scrimmage, with 57 first-downs and eight touchdowns to his credit on 187 touches.

Gainwell and Warren will work with Ramon Chinyoung in 2026, who McCarthy hired late last week as his replacement for Faulkner.

Now, Faulkner moves on to one of the league’s strongest backfields, featuring Derrick Henry. Even at 31 years old last season, Henry was just 27 yards short of leading the league in rushing. Behind him, Keaton Mitchell is a speedier back who has been impressive when available, though he is set to be a free agent this offseason. Justice Hill has been a long-time Raven runner, and he’s under contract through the 2027 season.

While Faulkner won’t be directly coaching the Ravens’ other dangerous runner, quarterback Lamar Jackson, his enormous impact on Baltimore’s rushing attack, whether the ball is in his hands or not, goes without saying.

That said, the Ravens’ offensive attack will look somewhat different in 2026 with former head coach Jim Harbaugh now in New York with the Giants and former offensive coordinator Todd Monken taking the head coaching job for the Cleveland Browns. Former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle will call the plays in Baltimore next season under new head coach Jesse Minter.

Obviously, it’s tough to see Faulkner land with the Steelers’ biggest AFC North rival, especially when Steelers fans know that Faulkner is a strong position coach now in charge of one of the Ravens’ biggest offensive strengths.
