After a first round of many questions about who the Pittsburgh Steelers might select, they went with Derrick Harmon. The fanbase has shown mixed reactions to the pick. Some wanted the organization to take Shedeur Sanders, but the safe move was always addressing their concerns in the trenches. Harmon was a nice value at their pick, and the front office appeared eager to address that need.
Day 2 of the NFL Draft will provide more sparks, as most top quarterbacks are on the board. A top gunslinger could slip into the third round, which could be in striking distance for the Steelers if they wish to get one. Their neglect of adding Sanders further proves that Aaron Rodgers gave them some assurance that he would end up signing with Pittsburgh.
This mock draft might please the fans who wanted a quarterback in the first round.
The Pittsburgh Steelers trade up for QB Jalen Milroe in Day 2 NFL mock draft
Pittsburgh throws caution to the wind and trade up for their future quarterback
Don't be foolish and rule out any trade scenarios for the Steelers on Day 2 of the draft. In this mock draft, Pittsburgh remained patient to see who might be available toward the start of the third round. Sanders was long gone, but another intriguing prospect was on the board. Steelers general manager Omar Khan jumped on the phone and started to make some calls.
They landed with the Dallas Cowboys as an adequate trade partner. Pittsburgh moves seven draft slots and only has to give up a fifth-round selection next year. That would sting, but most experts believe the Steelers will gain a handful of compensatory picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. If Khan loves a player and he slips within striking distance, don't be shocked if they trade up.

Steelers Mock Draft Round 3 (via Cowboys): Jalen Milroe, QB, Alabama
There would be mixed reactions if the Steelers traded to land Jalen Milroe.
At this point in the NFL Draft, the Alabama product would be terrific value. He is a project player, but he has an incredibly high ceiling. If Pittsburgh could stash him behind Mason Rudolph and possibly Rodgers, Milroe could succeed at the next level. He must clean up the number of turnovers he has produced.
You can tell there is still a bad taste in the Steelers' mouths since Justin Fields departed the team. He was their first choice to be the starting quarterback next season, but that flopped. Since Fields left in free agency, the Steelers have been scrambling for an answer at quarterback. While Rodgers appears like he will sign at some point, it's possible he could screw them over.
Milroe isn't at the level of Fields. He would be a rookie with turnover problems, but a rocket for an arm. His running ability might be an upgrade over Fields, but Pittsburgh seems to refuse its signal-callers to use that attribute. Milroe was a bold choice in this mock draft, especially after the trade. The Steelers might have no other choice at quarterback with few options remaining.
