The Pittsburgh Steelers started off the 2025 season in a huge way, picking up a 34-32 win over the New York Jets in what was an offensive duel. Defensively, there was a lot to be worried about, considering how great former quarterback Justin Fields looked in his Jets debut. But Steelers fans can see that Aaron Rodgers has still got it, based on his four-touchdown performance.

This game came after an offseason of questions regarding the Steelers' receiving corps behind DK Metcalf. While names like Calvin Austin III and Ben Skowronek each hauled in touchdown passes, is it truly sustainable? Well, it seems as though the Steelers have their eyes on bringing in a wide receiver this season. And it's a big name.

ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio discussed in a recent article about the likelihood of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill getting traded. While mentioning Hill's former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, as a team to watch, Florio also mentions the Steelers as a team that could trade for him.

"There’s already chatter, in the aftermath of Sunday’s win over the Jets, that the all-in Steelers could go even more all-in by making a move for Hill," writes Florio.

"Yes, Pittsburgh already has receiver DK Metcalf, who’s making $30 million per year on a five-year deal. But the Steelers don’t have a clear cut No. 2. Hill would be 1b (if not, at times, 1a) to Metcalf."

The Pittsburgh Steelers are rumored to be interested in Tyreek Hill trade

This is quite the inside information to hear right after the first game of the season. But this is a year in which the Steelers have made multiple all-in moves to help them make a Super Bowl run. Their other big move was bringing in cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade with the Dolphins, acquiring Metcalf in a deal with the Seattle Seahawks and signing him to a lucrative contract extension, and signing Rodgers to a one-year contract.

There's no denying the talent of Hill. He is one of the fastest players in the NFL and can really take the top off of a defense when he makes a mad dash to the end zone. The issue with Hill is the off-field stuff.

He notably said he was "done" with the Dolphins at the end of last season, only to backtrack when a trade wasn't happening. Then there's the multiple concerning issues, such as an investigation into battery against his then-three-year-old son in 2019, a 2023 investigation into assault and battery of a man in Florida, his altercation with police in 2024 ahead of the Dolphins' season opener, and a domestic dispute involving Hill and family members earlier this year.

Last season, Hill recorded 81 receptions for 959 yards and. six touchdowns on 123 targets. In Sunday's season-opening loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Hill caught four of six targets for 40 yards.

It will remain to be seen if the Steelers will actually pull off a trade for Hill. The Steelers have had a long history with receivers that have had on and off-field issues (i.e. Antonio Brown and George Pickens), but there very well could be a chance another team lands Hill. It all depends on the Dolphins.
