If you're still holding your breath for the Pittsburgh Steelers to trade for Jacobi Meyers, you might want to come up for air. The Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver has been at the center of trade speculation since requesting a trade the day before the NFL roster cutdown deadline. Now, it seems we can put those rumors to bed.

On Thursday, Steelers insider Mark Kaboly, a correspondent for The Pat McAfee Show, said there's no chance of this happening.

"The Raiders have zero interest in trading Jakobi Meyers, I've been told, so I am not sure how Steelers fans expect the Steelers to land him," Kaboly explained in a post on X. "Can't get what's not there."

If this is the case, there's no hope for Meyers joining the Steelers. The Raiders wide receiver is coming off the best season of his career after earning 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns in just 15 games last year.

Meyers would have made a fantastic complement to DK Metcalf as the No. 2 wide receiver in Pittsburgh, and because of his precise route-running and reliable hands (one drop on 127 targets in 2024), he could have even emerged as Aaron Rodgers' favorite target in the passing game. Those hopes now feel shattered.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are content with what they have at wide receiver

The day after roster cuts, Kaboly explained that the Steelers are not pursuing any wide receiver in free agency or in a trade, and that the team is content with Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson. This speaks volumes.

Wilson had a remarkable finish to the summer. The second-year wideout stacked impressive practices to close training camp and looked excellent in limited action during the preseason. Wilson's speed and tough hands in traffic have already flashed on film.

Austin, meanwhile, is coming off the best season of his career in 2024 when he earned 548 yards and four touchdowns while recording an impressive 9.4 yards per reception. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields combined for a 116.2 passer rating when targeting Austin last season, and there's no reason to believe that efficiency won't continue with Aaron Rodgers under center.

While Jakobi Meyers could have put the Steelers fanbase's minds at rest, Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan seem to be confident in what they have in Wilson and Austin. Let's hope they're making the right move passing on the chance to look for a wide receiver upgrade before the 2025 season.
