Steelers may need to watch rival Ravens snag coveted WR prospect before them

This would be a brutal blow.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of many teams projected to take a quarterback or offensive tackle with a premium pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, but wide receivers like Arizona State star Jordyn Tyson could be appealing to a team that is by no means set as far as acquiring wide receivers is concerned.

On FanSided's interactive 2026 NFL Draft Big Board, which includes both a national Top 50 and a team-specific top-five for all 32 teams, the No. 1 prospect on Pittsburgh's Big Board was Arizona State standout wide receiver Jordyn Tyson.

What's the big issue? Well, Ebony Bird, FanSided's Baltimore Ravens site, also listed Tyson as their top option. Not only will the Steelers miss out on perhaps their next great pass-catcher, but they have to watch their hated rival take him without having to go through the entire stressful process of trading up.

Ravens may select top Steelers NFL Draft target Jordyn Tyson

The only fault that many can find in Tyson as a wide receiver is his injuries. When healthy, it's easy to argue that Tyson is the No. 1 wide receiver in this class. He is quicker off the line than Ohio State's Carnell Tate, and his size can make him a bit more versatile in the pros than USC's Makai Lemon.

Even though DK Metcalf has been extended and Michael Pittman Jr. was acquired via trade, Pittsburgh should not be considered done as far as adding wide receivers is considered. Roman Wilson's lack of development and the loss of Calvin Austin III give the Steelers a Tyson-sized hole that can be filled.

Baltimore, should they decide not to offset the loss of Tyler Linderbaum in free agency with a player like Penn State's Vega Ioane, will likely target a pass-catcher. Tyson, Lemon, and Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq all stand out as players that Baltimore could select a few picks in front of Pittsburgh.

All is not lost if the Steelers miss on Tyson or Lemon. Pass catchers like Indiana's Omar Cooper Jr. could be a more modest pass-catcher, and the top two players after the receivers on the big board are high-end offensive linemen in Utah tackle Spencer Fano and Penn State guard Vega Ioane.

The sad fact about this Draft for Steelers fans is that many of the upgrades they can make may end up being nullified by a Ravens team that will be able to use an unusually poor season as a springboard to add a premium player like Tyson in the name of closing the AFC North gap.
