Steelers' nightmare could unfold with Ravens copying Super Bowl blueprint

This is a great sign for the Ravens and a bad sign for the Steelers.

The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl LX champions. After humiliating the New England Patriots in the biggest show on turf, NFL teams will want to replicate the model of success the Seahawks just displayed. Unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers are nowhere close to doing this.

While the Steelers have some respectable young building blocks, they are missing a competent, stable quarterback and an elite, innovative coaching staff. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald—along with offensive mastermind Klint Kubiak—just coached circles around the competition en route to their second Lombardi trophy.

And the worst part is that the Baltimore Ravens are already copying Seattle's blueprint for Super Bowl success.

After the 2023 season, the Ravens made the mistake of letting Macdonald get poached for Seattle's head coaching job (they should have promoted him and sent John Harbaugh packing back then). But their decision-makers are learning quickly.

The Baltimore Ravens just built a Seahawks-like coaching staff that the Pittsburgh Steelers should fear

It was too late to hit the reset button on Mike Macdonald. The brilliant young coach, who brought tremendous success to Baltimore's defense, was already gone and is doing great things in Seattle.

But the Ravens modeled their 2026 coaching hires after the Seahawks.

Baltimore's new head coach is Jesse Minter. The former LA Chargers defensive coordinator took unspectacular talent and helped them to impressive results. Like Macdonald, the 42-year-old first-time head is also a defensive play-caller—and he's been an excellent one at that.

However, the similarities between the Ravens' new coaching staff and the Seahawks' staff don't end there.

In terms of an offensive mind, it's hard to top what Macdonald had to work with in 2025. The brilliant 38-year-old Klint Kubiak was so good at his job that he lasted just one season in Seattle before being poached for a head coaching position by the Las Vegas Raiders.

Instead of going with a retread head coach or long-time NFL play-caller for his new offensive coordinator, Minter snagged Declan Doyle. If you're not familiar with this name, Doyle is the former OC of the Chicago Bears and direct understudy of Ben Johnson (one of the most sought-after head coach candidates of the past decade). Doyle is just 29 years old and has already been learning from the best.

Now the Ravens have their version of Mike Macdonald and Klint Kubiak in place with Jesse Minter and Declan Doyle. While there's hardly a guarantee that this play-caller combination finds as much success as Macdonald and Kubiak did in Seattle, Baltimore already has a great quarterback situation with Lamar Jackson.

The NFL is a league of trends, and teams will try to replicate Super Bowl success by copying opponents. Unfortunately, the Baltimore Ravens might be following in the footsteps of the Seattle Seahawks with their recent coaching moves.
