After a wild first round of the NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers should be feeling good with how things stand. They got the guy they needed most, adding Oregon defensive lineman Derrick Harmon to upgrade the middle of the defense. They also passed on the plummeting Shedeur Sanders, despite reports he would be the pick if he were there.

Even though fans should be happy with how things played out, now it could be a long while before they get to see another pick from Omar Khan and company.

With no second-round pick after the D.K. Metcalf trade, the Steelers aren't slated to pick again until pick 83. Recent reports, however, suggest that they could be entertaining offers for one of their polarizing playmakers.

Pittsburgh Steelers getting trade calls about receiver George Pickens

George Pickens' tenure with the Steelers has been the definition of a rollercoaster. He has some of the best catches in the league since he entered it in 2022, and he has been an overall productive player. His issues, however, have overshadowed his play on the field at times.

He lacks the maturity to handle tough situations, and he has shown that immaturity both on and off the field. With D.K. Metcalf joining the team, Pickens' future with the team is cloudy at best.

He is entering the last year of his rookie contract, and he could command big money if he has another strong season. Other teams know this, so it's no surprise that the Steelers have been getting calls about trading him, according to Dianna Russini.

It could make sense for the Steelers to trade Pickens now, especially if they don't plan to extend him. What it will come down to, most likely, is how much they can get teams to offer.

If the offers are for a third-round pick or better, I think they would absolutely consider it. Anything less, and Omar Khan may believe he could get more value in comp picks after Pickens signs elsewhere.

Ultimately, the Steelers need to have a plan in place to add more receivers if they do move the polarizing receiver. Whether it's with one of their remaining picks or perhaps whatever pick they get in the trade, adding a receiver in this year's draft would become a must.
