Fans were anxious to see the Pittsburgh Steelers' schedule as it dropped on Thursday evening. Mike McCarthy's first year as head coach in Pittsburgh already looks like a rollercoaster ride, as his team will play just one playoff team in the first half of the season before being bombarded with one daunting opponent after the next following their Week 9 bye.
But these days, the NFL schedule release offers something else to look forward to: schedule release videos.
The first schedule-release video was dropped in 2016 by the Seattle Seahawks' social media team. And in recent years, social media teams like the Los Angeles Chargers have forced others to step up their game. The Steelers have been criticized for their lack of creativity in recent years, with their schedule release video.
This year, however, they hit the nail on the head, perfectly encapsulating the Yinzer spirit.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' 2026 schedule release video hits home with Yinzers
I myself am not a Yinzer. In Northeast Pennsylvania, most of these accents, lingo quirks, and some cultural norms disappear. But my wife is from a family of Yinzers... and the Steelers' schedule release video had her cracking up.
If you're from the Pittsburgh area, you could relate to this.
You probably all have an uncle or cousin who talks just like Billy Gardell, the actor and stand-up comedian who played a security guard in the Steelers' schedule-release video. Some of the bits from the four-minute clip were priceless, like when Gardell poked fun at how Yinzers put French fries on practically everything.
“We got fries on salad. We got fries on sammys,” Gardell said. “Fries on pizza, fries on fruit, fries on mac and cheese, fries on jello, fries in coffee, fries in smoothies.”
Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz also made a brief appearance in the video. Kuntz, who is from Pittsburgh, could be seen teaching a class on Pittsburgh lingo to folks who are new to the area.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' schedule release video hits the mark with local fans, and utilizing Gardell was a nice touch. For my money, the 2026 schedule release video is the best this team has put out so far.
