DK Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey have been known to get into their share of tussles in the past... and that includes getting chippy with each other. The Pro Bowlers pride themselves on physicality, and that sometimes escalates into a bit of extra-curricular contact after the whistle. Now the two star players have joined forces on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and their past rivalry is already being talked bout.
Following the Steelers' blockbuster trade with the Dolphins for Ramsey and Jonnu Smith, quotes from DK Metcalf resurfaced. During a segment of the NFL's Top 100 Players of the 2021 season, Metcalf spoke glowingly of Ramsey, and these comments recently resurfaced.
When asked who the toughest cornerback he has faced, Metcalf didn't hesitate for a second.
"Jalen. Jalen Ramsey," Metcalf said in 2021 while letting out a laugh. "I mean, just his trash talk, he's strong, competitive. It's just a battle every time we go up against each other."
He's right. Watching these two players go at it over the years was pure football entertainment. Now, Metcalf and Ramsey will square off every day at practice during Steelers training camp.
The Pittsburgh Steelers' top WR and CB will be well-prepared for the 2025 season
Iron sharpens iron (or, I guess in this case, steel sharpens steel). In just a few months, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to bring in perennial 1,000-yard receiver DK Metcalf and three-time First-Team All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. I bet nobody had that on their 2025 offseason bingo card.
Metcalf spoke glowingly of Ramsey years ago, but you can bet that he will welcome the challenge of facing the star cornerback every day in practice. The feeling is mutual, I'm sure. Rarely will Ramsey be tasked with going up against a wide receiver with a more lethal combination of size, speed, and physicality.
Though they've already reached the peaks of their careers, these two players will only continue to make each other better after they log dozens of reps against each other in one-on-ones and team drills from late July until the 2025 season starts in September.
These two players have already earned multiple massive paydays in their NFL careers. Now it's about using each other to get even better, with all eyes set on competing in the playoffs this year.
