The Pittsburgh Steelers have enough cap space remaining to make some more additions. They are projected to have approximately $27.29 million available, giving them financial flexibility. A portion of that money will be used to sign their upcoming draft class, particularly if they use all 12 picks. However, few expect the Steelers to make all of their selections due to possible trade implications.

Although the Steelers may not make any major moves in free agency after an active start to the offseason, they could still explore additional signings.

The future of Aaron Rodgers remains the biggest question for the team moving forward. If he is re-signed, the Steelers will have even less cap space available. However, there are several contract maneuvers that could be used to create additional financial flexibility.

Although most of the top free agents have already been signed, Pittsburgh still has several intriguing options to consider. Multiple needs remain across the roster, particularly along the left side of the offensive line. The uncertainty surrounding Broderick Jones’s neck injury, combined with Isaac Seumalo departing in free agency, could open the door for Brock Hoffman to emerge as an option.

Pittsburgh Steelers could make another free agent splash by signing OL Brock Hoffman

Shortly after free agency began, reports surfaced suggesting the Steelers were set to sign Hoffman. NFL insider Jordan Schultz initially reported the move, but the claim was quickly disputed. Hoffman later told Nick Harris of the Star Telegram that Schultz’s report was inaccurate. Pittsburgh never reached an agreement with the veteran offensive lineman.

While the situation created confusion for all involved, a deal could still materialize in the future.

It is easy to connect Hoffman to the franchise. He previously played under Mike McCarthy during his time with the Dallas Cowboys, as McCarthy kept him on the roster from 2022 until his departure in 2024. Since McCarthy left, Hoffman has continued to develop into a reliable presence in the trenches while showcasing valuable versatility.

After losing Isaac Seumalo in free agency, the Steelers currently have Spencer Anderson as their primary option at left guard. While the team is likely to draft a player who can compete for the starting role, it would be wise to also add a veteran free agent with starter potential. Doing so would allow Anderson to compete with both a rookie and a proven player to fill the vacancy at left guard.

That approach may represent the most effective path forward for Pittsburgh.

Hoffman remains a strong candidate as an immediate solution to address concerns at left guard. While he has extensive experience at center, he has also spent time lining up at both guard positions. Signing Hoffman would not require a significant financial commitment. Given his connection to Mike McCarthy and Pittsburgh’s ongoing need along the offensive line, the fit makes a great deal of sense.
