During the 2025 offseason, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive leader and team captain Cameron Heyward voiced his frustration with the whole Aaron Rodgers drama. In March, during an episode of his Not Just Football Podcast, Heyward said, 'I ain't doing no darkness retreat. I don't need that crap.'

Now, Rodgers just gave Cam every reason to change his tone.

Though Rodgers elected to drag out his signing as he attended to personal matters, he's on the team now. The 41-year-old quarterback officially inked his one-year contract with the Steelers last week. But Rodgers is going above and beyond to let bygones be bygones. On Monday, Mark Kaboly reported that Rodgers and new wide receiver DK Metcalf will participate in Heyward's 'Irons for Impact' Golf Outing at Sewickley Heights Golf Club today.

What better way to appease the vocal leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers than to show up and participate in his charity golf event just days after signing with the team? This comes just one day before the start of mandatory minicamp, when all players under contract are required to report to the facility.

Heyward, the 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year award recipient, has a heart for impacting the community, and Rodgers officially buried the hatchet with his move to support Heyward's cause.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' most valuable players are already getting on the same page

With 53 players on an NFL roster, you're not going to get along perfectly with everyone. Some personality types are going to butt heads. It's the nature of the business. But it's comforting to know that Aaron Rodgers and Cam Heyward are already figuring out a way to make this work.

Rodgers instantly joins Heyward was one of the most valuable players on the roster. So much of the Steelers' success for the 2025 season depends on these two veteran players. This goes without saying.

As a quarterback, the team will live and die this season by what Rodgers brings to the table, and fans are hopeful that it will be more than what the combination of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields offered in 2024. Meanwhile, Heyward still proved to be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the NFL as a 35-year-old last season.

Heyward has been vocal about his distaste for the 'Rodgers' discussion, but that's all in the past, and these team leaders are ready to move forward. Even though it took Aaron Rodgers until after OTAs wrapped up to sign his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he's doing the right thing by showing up and participating in Cam Heyward's charity golf event. This is exactly what you hope to see.
