Steelers would fleece an AFC foe in this picture-perfect trade deadline heist

This would help.

At this point in the season, let's be honest: the AFC North is still widely up for grabs. These Pittsburgh Steelers would like to think they'll end up with the division title, but as losers of their last two, this team is far from being a finished product.

As the NFL trade deadline is set to pass on November 4, though, the roster is close to being locked in for the remainder of the season, outside of any current veteran free agents available. That being said, Bleacher Report recently tossed out some ideas, and when it came to the Steelers, it was Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers who was labeled a fit there.

How much would it cost to acquire the 7th-year pro? In this deal, the Steelers would only be giving up a fourth-round pick.

Pittsburgh Steelers acquiring Jakobi Meyers would be a steal but with one caveat

A fourth rounder is sufficient draft capital for Pittsburgh to part with, here, but only under one circumstance: they'd need to extend Meyers right away.

He is currently on the final year of a 3-year, $33 million contract, and at that annual average, he's very affordable. Meyers is one of the more underrated wide receivers in the league and is coming off a career year in 2024, where he totaled 1,027 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Meyers had previously made it known that he would like to be traded out of Las Vegas, and who could blame him? That's a franchise headed nowhere as it currently stands, and he is set to turn 29 years old shortly. Meyers wants to be part of a winning franchise, and he'd have a good opportunity in Pittsburgh.

Aaron Rodgers gets his sure-handed possession wide receiver who could complement DK Metcalf perfectly. While Metcalf is the bigger body and a stout outside presence, Meyers can work well lined up at various points on the field and operate nicely in those intermediate areas.

The Steelers still don't have a legitimate WR2 on that roster, whether or not you believe Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson, or anyone else is capable of being just that. Meyers would come in and immediately be Rodgers' second fiddle to Metcalf. From there, the offense could have a little clearer identity, and Rodgers gets a pair of experienced, talented wideouts to go along with his tight end trio.
