3 biggest offseason priorities for Pittsburgh Steelers
Decide which of their own free agents to bring back
The Steelers don't have a ton of cap space heading into free agency this offseason. So, it seems unlikely that they will be major players when it comes to adding external talent. However, they have a plethora of pending free agents of their own, and Pittsburgh's front office has to decide which of those guys they want to bring back.
The biggest impending free agent is probably quarterback Mason Rudolph, who we touched on earlier. Rudolph has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh to this point, and it will be interesting to see if the Steelers decide to bring him back to compete for the starting spot with Kenny Pickett.
Rudolph will likely have other suitors, but how many of those suitors would provide him with a potential opportunity to start, like he could get in Pittsburgh? Probably not too many.
In addition to Rudolph, the Steelers have several other noteworthy free agents, especially on the defensive end, including linebackers Kwon Alexander and Blake Martinez and safety Miles Killebrew. You can view Pittsburgh's complete list of pending free agents here.
Without the ability to add too many big names in free agency, Pittsburgh could look to bring guys like Alexander and Killebrew back and bank on internal improvement.
