Steelers must target Bryce Callahan

Another respectable option to fill the slot cornerback role for the Pittsburgh Steelers is Bryce Callahan. Like Peterson, you would be getting a player in his early 30s, however, he still showed that he can man the slot role and he offers much more coverage ability than a player like Arthur Maulet.

The biggest issue is that Callahan is far from an enforcer in the running game. This is the area where he has graded out poorly in the past. However, if Mike Tomlin can get past that, he would still find a cornerback with fluid movement skills who could mirror receivers from the slot.

Callahan has been fantastic in the past for Denver, and though his best days are likely behind him, he still has something to offer for a team desperate for true cover guys. The Steelers obviously aren't concerned with age, and Callahan is simply a better slot cornerback than what they have. He could bump a pedestrian Arthur Maulet off the roster.

At the end of the day, I don't believe the Pittsburgh Steelers will fork up for another cornerback in free agency, and they are certain to take one in the draft. However, adding one more capable player could help greatly improve their CB depth from a season ago and mask the loss of Cameron Sutton.
