3. The Steelers found an absolute gem in Nick Herbig

If you're not familiar with the Steelers' fourth-round pick from this past draft, you're missing out big time. Nick, brother of Steelers' offensive lineman Nate Herbig, has quickly made a name for himself throughout training camp and these first two preseason games.

Herbig had question marks surrounding his ability to play on the edge during the offseason, but those questions have been answered. It took little time for Steelers' fans to find themselves comfortable with Nick Herbig as a part of the Steelers' pass rush rotation.

Herbig's speed and flexibility dipping under offensive tackles has carried him to multiple stand-out plays thus far, and Saturday night was more of the same for the Steelers' rookie. The Wisconsin product debuted last week recording four tackles and 1.5 sacks on the night, via ESPN stats. Herbig added to those numbers against Buffalo with three more tackles and one sack in another impressive showing.

It may be too early to crown Nick Herbig as the first pass rusher off the bench ahead of Markus Golden, who signed with Pittsburgh in free agency, but the rookie has made a case for himself. In years past the Steelers lacked depth at one of the league's most important positions and it came back to bite them on several occasions.

This season will be much different in that aspect. With T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith as the team's premier pass rushers, with Golden and Herbig rotating in as needed, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have one of the league's deepest pass-rushing tandems in 2023.
