The Pittsburgh Steelers are rounding out their 2023 Pro Day visits almost as fast as we can keep track of them. The good news is that they aren't wasting the precious opportunities to meet with some of the top prospects leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft.
So far, the Steelers have either visited or have visits scheduled with 25 of their available 30 spots. While we obviously don't know who their selections will be early in the draft, I'm loving some of the names they have expressed interest in during the pre-draft process. Here are three Steelers pre-draft visits that should have fans excited as we gear up for the NFL Draft.
3. Cody Mauch, OL, North Dakota State
I love that the Steelers have expressed so much interest in improving the offensive line even after signing players like Isaac Seumalo and Nate Herbig in free agency. Thanks to his flowing locks and missing front teeth, Cody Mauch was a player who was impossible to miss during Senior Bowl week, but he's much more than just a loveable character.
Mauch is a versatile, athletic lineman who can play anything from tackle to center. Because of his short arms, many believe he will have to transition to the interior at the next level, and he does have a steep learning curve coming from North Dakota State.
Still, Mauch has incredible tape and played very well at the Senior Bowl. The Steelers are looking for a long-term option at center, and I love the idea of landing him early on day two of the draft. Even with his small school status, this seems like a safe pick that improves the offense and gives them a player who can line up pretty much anywhere along the offensive line.
