1. Christian Gonzalez, CB, Oregon
Of all 25 players the Steelers have scheduled pre-draft visits with this offseason, Christian Gonzalez is the best player on the list. With a fantastic blend of size, traits, speed, and agility, there's nothing the Oregon lacks that could hold him back from being one of the very best cornerbacks in the NFL.
The problem is that Gonzalez is projected to be long gone before the Pittsburgh Steelers are on the clock with the 17th overall pick. However, the fact that they spent a top-30 visit on him knowing that this will be the case shows just how much Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan like him.
Of course, in order to land him, Pittsburgh would probably be looking at some sort of trade-up if he starts to slip. With two picks in the second round this year, this isn't out of the realm of possibility. Gonzalez is a borderline elite talent who would have a chance to be the best cornerback the Steelers have had in a very long time.
There are plenty of other names I love on Pittsburgh's pre-draft visit list, but I'm particularly excited about these three visits for the Steelers during the pre-draft process. I would love to see any of the three wind up on the team when it's all said and done.
