2. Steelers could take EDGE at pick 17

I can already envision the reaction of the Steelers fan base if Pittsburgh takes an edge defender with T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith on the roster. Though this seems like a shocking move, it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility. In fact, it might be more likely than you think.

Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan were on hand at some notable pro days to witness edge defenders like Myles Murphy, Nolan Smith, Lukas Van Ness, and Will McDonald. Something that is certainly worth noting is that the team had confirmed dinner meetings with Murphy and McDonald -- two players who are expected to be taken somewhere in the middle of the first round.

Though this isn't a telltale sign that the Steelers will take an edge with their top pick, they had as many pro-day meetings with first-round edge prospects as any other position this year. It's also worth noting that the Steelers only brought in one edge defender for a pre-draft visit who is not considered a first-round prospect (USC's Tuli Tuipulotu).

It's very possible that talent could line up in a way that a few of these edge defenders are the best overall players on the board with the Steelers on the clock with the 17th overall pick in the NFL Draft. If they view them highly enough, EDGE could be in play as these players check the Tomlin/Khan pro day visit box.
