How will some former Steelers look?

The Rams boast two former Steelers players in their lineup this week. The more notable of the two is former starting guard Kevin Dotson. His story in Pittsburgh was a rough one. He was viewed as a draft steal in the fourth round and played like that as a rookie, but struggled with consistency after that.

He was buried on the depth chart this year in camp before the Rams offered a pick swap for his services. While he wasn’t the initial starter, he quickly earned that role and hasn’t looked back. Dotson is currently among the highest-graded offensive linemen in the league, and he looks far more comfortable in the Rams scheme.

Ahkello Witherspoon had similar consistency issues with the Steelers. He struggled to see the field after initially being traded for, came on strong at the end of his first season, and then was a liability a year ago in this secondary before being cut in the offseason. He is one of the starting outside cornerbacks for the Rams and has played well.

Are these players just showing some flashes in the pan or have they actually turned the corner? Both will be tested this week and while Dotson has some easier matchups, he has also proven to be a player that can get stuck in his own head. Ideally, the Steelers can make these two former players revert back to how they looked with the team in the past this week.
