We are now just days away from the start of the 2023 NFL Draft, and the excitement is heating up. The Pittsburgh Steelers will have a chance to rebuild the foundation of their franchise with some cornerstone players this year, and three selections inside the top 50 picks will help them do so.

Omar Khan and assistant GM Andy Weidl have been working tirelessly to make sure that this team will be set up for success in the future. There are a number of ways things could turn out for the Steelers early in the NFL Draft, and unlike in years past, it's hard to predict which direction they will go. Here are four dream scenarios for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the draft:

4. Steelers trade back from pick 17

Trading back in the first round has always been an option I would love the team to explore. By doing so, it's possible that Pittsburgh could miss out on high-end talent, but for a team lacking both starting talent and depth, stockpiling more picks would be more important.

With the way that the board could lay out, it's possible that there is a run on offensive tackle and cornerbacks prior to the Steelers being on the clock at pick 17. If this proves to be the case, a trade back would no doubt be their best option.

Of course, this requires a trade partner who is willing to jump back up. This typically doesn't happen unless a team is moving up for a quarterback (and occasionally, a receiver). If the Steelers could find a trade partner that would allow them to move back into the 20s and pick up an extra second-round pick in the process, no Pittsburgh fan should be upset with this.
