4 players no longer on Steelers draft radar with the 17th overall pick
By Tommy Jaggi
1. Jordan Addison, WR, USC
Say what you want about the front office's familiarity with wide receiver Jordan Addison. I'm well aware that he spent two seasons at Pitt and was the top pass-catcher for Kenny Pickett in 2021. While some think the team could make an exception to the trend here, I am not under that impression.
After going to Iowa's Pro Day, Mike Tomlin, Omar Khan, and their crew stayed out west. But it wasn't USC's Pro Day they attended. Instead of going to see players like Addison, DL Tuli Tuipulotu, or CB Mehki Blackmon, they stayed in the Cyclone State to watch pass rusher Will McDonald at Iowa State's Pro Day.
This doesn't seem like something Tomlin would do if he was genuinely considering drafting Jordan Addison with the 17th pick. If we look at the past few years, Tomlin and Pittsburgh's brass have ignored some massive pro days to narrow in on one position they were targeting early.
I know that the Steelers have familiarity with Jordan Addison, but he's not so much of a slamdunk prospect that they would send just one scouting director out to see him. The interest here isn't as strong as many Pitt homers were hoping it was.
