3. OLB Nick Herbig

Call him a linebacker or an edge defender if you will, Nick Herbig is simply a football player. Herbig came from a Wisconsin football program that has produced Hall of Fame NFL talent (primarily from the Watt brothers) over the years.

Despite being the next in a long line of dominant pass rushers at the collegiate level, Herbig saw a monumental slide during the 2023 NFL Draft due to his overall lack of size and length. At the NFL Combine, Herbig measured in at just 6'2 1/8'' and 240 pounds with 31 1/4'' arms.

Because of this, many scouts and draft analysts are convinced that he will have to make the transition to a full-time off-ball linebacker in the NFL. While Herbig is willing and ready to do anything Mike Tomlin and defensive coordinator Teryl Austin ask of him, he will also be fighting tooth and nail to show doubters why he will still be able to rush the passer in the NFL.

Herbig earned outstanding grades from Pro Football Focus as a junior in 2022 and his 15.5 tackles for a loss and 11.0 sacks in just 11 games for the Badgers last year is phenomenal. Herbig was PFF's 64th overall player this year and fell all the way to pick 132 in the fourth round. The fiery defender will be out to show that he can overcome his lack of size and length.
