It has been an eventful week at the combine, as the future of the NFL got to put their athleticism on display in front of every NFL team. The Steelers are regulars here, as they love their athletes and tend to look toward some of the top athletes when they draft. While this class seems to lack astonishing athletes like years prior, it has its fair share of impressive players.

While athleticism alone doesn’t allow you to win in the NFL, it sure doesn’t hurt. The league is made up of some premiere athletes, so being able to counter that is huge. Because of their 2023 combines, these five players have to be on the Steelers draft radar now.

5. Marvin Mims could fill the Steelers need

The Steelers have a huge need at receiver, as they are lacking a slot receiver at this point. While many claim this room is fine because of Calvin Austin. While I’d love to bank on his potential, this team needs to add competition there. At the very least, even if Austin is the man going forward, they need extra depth.

This receiver draft class isn’t as great as it has been in recent years, and it is lacking elite athletes. A name that sticks out as a fit for the Steelers is Marvin Mims out of Oklahoma. While not an elite prospect, Mims tested well athletically and has the size you look for in a smaller slot receiver.

Mims would be a great addition late. He can use his athleticism to win deep when given the opportunity, or he can work in the slot on shorter routes. While he likely won’t ever develop into a top option, Mims can be a great slot receiver and a versatile backup for a team that needs to get deeper at the position.
