Defensive line has been rumored to be a top need for Pittsburgh

Some of those who cover the team believe that the Steelers will invest in the defensive line again. Either in free agency or the draft, they expect Pittsburgh to try and get an impact player that is on the younger side. If they turn toward the draft, that likely means that they will try and use their top pick on the position. This draft class is a little top-heavy in talent.

There are a couple of options that are projected to go between rounds one and three that could interest the Steelers. The future of Larry Ogunjobi with the club seems safe for now, but the team has shown recently that they are not afraid to move on from bad contracts. Ogunjobi played poorly last season, and it could end up with him being a cap casualty.

If Ogunjobi is cut, then expect this spot on the roster to ignite in an inferno for talent acquisition. The Steelers need to get younger, and the new regime recognizes how important the trenches on both sides of the ball are. Pittsburgh is going to show plenty of interest in defensive linemen, but they will need to spend a high pick on one if they want an impact player.

A couple of names to monitor this week who the Steelers have either already shown interest in or will likely express interest in this week. Names like Michael Hall Jr., Kris Jenkins, and Byron Murphy II. All three are talented players, and some of them are seen as great athletes for their size. They need to have quality outings at the combine to raise their draft stock.
