2. Jalen Hurts: $51 million per year

Jalen Hurts went from a former second-round pick to one of the richest players in the NFL relatively quickly. The Philadelphia Eagles standout was remarkable in 2022 and nearly led his team to a Super Bowl win if not for Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid standing in their way.

You can't really argue with the results. The Eagles were 14-1 when Hurts suited up last year. The young quarterback chipped in 35 total touchdowns to go with just 6 interceptions on the year, while his 8.4 adjusted yards per attempt and 101.5 passer rating were near the top of the league.

Now Philadelphia will look for more great things from their franchise quarterback in 2023 and beyond. The Eagles came incredbily close to a Super Bowl win in 2022 and their roster will still be strong enough to go on a deep playoff run in the NFC.

Because of the way his contract is structured, Hurts has extremely reasonable cap hits all the way through 2028, but the team will take on substantial dead money in 2029 and beyond. They know their window is now, and Hurts can help get them there. In all, however, this quarterback accounts for the second-biggest contract in the NFL in terms of yearly value.
