8 potential cap-casualties that should have the Steelers salivating

Steelers could sign Russell Gage
As mentioned earlier, the Steelers may look to add a third receiver to their depth chart, specifically one that can thrive in the slot, if they have to cut Robinson. Assuming the Buccaneers cut him, Russell Gage sticks out as a great option to replace him for a wide variety of reasons.
For starters, it seems like almost a forgone conclusion that Gage will be out with Tampa Bay. His first season was seen as a disappointment even though he posted five touchdowns. He failed to consistently find a role and be utilized to his maximum. He missed all of this past season and the Buccaneers saw some strong play from their depth at receiver. His 13.4 million in savings could be better spent elsewhere.
While Gage doesn’t have the long superstar season Renfrow had, he’s strung together quite a few good seasons. His second year in the league saw him take some steps forward as an offensive player, and he was productive with the Falcons in his final two years there. He isn’t flashy or elite, but he can hold his own and do well as a compliment in an offense.
Given his larger size and ability to play special teams (granted he hasn’t been a core contributor there since his offensive emergence but could return to those duties), I would love to see the Steelers add him at a fair price this offseason. No, he won’t set the offense on fire, but he is a steady third option in an offense that will look to utilize other targets in addition to Gage.
