8 potential cap-casualties that should have the Steelers salivating

Steelers could sign C.J. Mosley
It looked like C.J. Mosley was on his way out of the league just a few seasons ago. He missed most of 2019 with an injury, didn’t play in 2020 due to COVID-19, and was objectively bad in 2021. Somehow, he survived all of that time with the Jets and has since produced two of his better seasons in the league with them.
The issue right now is that the Jets are all in on Aaron Rodgers for what is likely his last season, and they need to revamp their line to protect him. Mosley has a bloated cap charge and could free up 11 million dollars if he were released (or 17 if the Jets designate him a post-June casualty). That is a lot of change that could go towards revamping their offense around Rodgers.
If he were cut, the Steelers could be suitors. They had a lot of interest in him before he was drafted by the Ravens (Pittsburgh chose Ryan Shazier over him in that class) and he has gotten back on track as a good defender. While the linebacker room was better, no one played close to how Mosely has been playing.
While not the least likely player to get cut in my opinion on this list (that goes to our next entrant), Mosley would be a great fit for this defense. It would provide them with their best off-ball linebacker since Shazier was lost to injury. That said, he likely won’t come cheap, even as a cap casualty.
