AI comps Steelers players to Super Mario Bros characters, and responses are hilarious

The Super Mario Bros Movie shattered box office records. To close out the month of May, it surpassed Frozen as the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time, according to Pop Crave. Generations of Nintendo players sat alongside each other in theatres around the globe to soak in the nostalgia of the most popular game franchise in history. So we decided to do a little Mario-NFL mashup.

Like Super Mario Bros, the Pittsburgh Steelers have had some iconic characters over the years. Recently we asked AI to match Super Mario Bros characters with current and former players on the Steelers. The results were hilarious. Here's what Chat GPT came up with:

To no surprise, Ben Roethlisberger -- the face of the franchise for nearly the past two decades -- was compared to the lead man himself, Mario. AI described them as both 'iconic figures' with leadership qualities who have stood the test of time.

T.J. Watt was compared to Luigi -- Mario's sidekick little brother and partner in battle. Interestingly, AI compared Watt's relationship with his older brother J.J. as reasoning for this Super Mario Bros comparison. Chat GPT is a bit behind regarding J.J.'s retirement from the NFL.

The comparisons for former Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster and current RB Najee Harris make sense to a degree. JuJu was compared to Toad thanks to his bubbly personality in Pittsburgh. He's known for his charisma and energy. Meanwhile, Harris is comped to Yoshi for his agility and his ability to traverse obstacles.

Artificial intelligence compares Steelers All-Pro safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick, to Princess Peach because of their crucial role in 'protecting their realms'. The most hilarious and perfect response was AI comparing Cameron Heyward to Bowser because of their powerful frames and brute force to wreak havoc.
