Steelers could sign CB Bryce Callahan

Bryce Callahan has been widely regarded as one of the best slot cornerbacks in the league in the past. From 2017 to 2020, Callahan earned outstanding grades and finished as the 3rd, 8th, and 25th-highest-graded CB in three seasons.

Over the past two years, the veteran has come back down to earth with modest grades, but he has still been a big contributor on defense for the Broncos, and last year for the Chargers. Despite injuries that kept him out of action for two games in 2022, Callahan earned 3 interceptions and 6 passes defended on a whopping 572 snaps from the slot.

Callahan got a late start to his NFL career and only started 3 games before his age-25 season in 2016. However, he now has loads of slot coverage experience under his belt, and he has recorded at least 2 interceptions in 4 of the past 5 seasons.

Like Hill, Bryce Callahan is 31 years old and has already seen his best days. However, there's little doubt that he could still carve out a role and be a much more effective player covering the slot than Arthur Maulet was for the team in 2022. With his pedigree and experience, this would have a similar feel to the Markus Golden signing, but at the slot cornerback position.
