Another number without a real credible Steelers player to claim it. We will leave this Jersey to readers. Although perhaps Calvin Sweeney could make a best-case argument. No one else really comes close thus, it’s up to you to decide whom you thing should best claim this jersey.

Jersey #88 Lynn Swann

How the Steelers could not have thought to never issue jerseys # 82 and 88 ever again will never be answered. While perhaps #88 will become generational, and Pat Freiermuth will be remembered for this jersey too, that claim belongs to Lynn Swann for now.  

If Stallworth was the big-play speedster that burned you after the catch, Lynn Swann just made big plays, period. His abilities were just as important as Stallworth, and they are one of the best receiver duos ever. If you could argue the Steelers never win four Superbowls without John Stallworth, you can make the same argument of Lynn Swann. He was that good.

Granted, he does not have the Stats Stallworth has and didn’t play as long, but he was tough, gritty, and could leap higher in the air than any defensive back to make impossible catches seem easy. A primary reason he is in the Hall of Fame.
