Jersey #25 Ron Shanklin

This jersey lacks credible talent, as some of the other jerseys do. Sure, you could give Artie Burns credit for the jersey, at least for being one of the worst to wear the jersey; we will give it to wide receiver Ron Shanklin. Shanklin was one of the Steelers go-to guys in the early ‘70s until they drafted Lynn Swann and John Stallworth.

In his career with the Steelers, he had 166 receptions for 3079 yards and 24 touchdowns, and one Pro Bowl. He did manage to stay around through the 1974 season, so he does have one ring to his credit. While unlikely, Darius Hagans, in 2023, will get a shot to claim this jersey.

Jersey #26 Rod Woodson

We know the Steelers have Jersey numbers not in circulation while not officially retired. Why #26 is not included is a mystery. However, it might be how his career ended in Pittsburgh. Rod Woodson is the player to wear this number. He is one of the greatest to play, as he has been enshrined in Canton. He was the last great cornerback the Steelers have had. Perhaps that changes in 2023.

Jersey #27-31 Reader's Choice

In trying to compile names to associate with these jersey numbers by reviewing the Steelers 2022 media guide, there is not one player you can clearly identify a Jersey number for. Most players only played one or two seasons at the most and none were noteworthy.
