Investing into the defensive front is going to be huge this year

Gaining some quality youth to the defensive trenches has been a top priority for this franchise during the offseason. They have added some younger players to their depth across the defensive line that will challenge for different roles. Neither Breiden Fehoko nor Arman Watts should be the only options to be the starting nose tackle heading into training camp and beyond.

Taking a defensive tackle in the upcoming draft seems like a lock as the draft creeps ever closer with each tick of the clock. Cam Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi return as the two starting defensive ends, but the depth behind them is scarce. Trying to find a prospect to come in and fill the starting nose tackle role and provide depth at the defensive end is a huge task at hand for the black and gold.

Plenty of homework has been done on this upcoming rookie class of defensive tackles that could interest the Steelers. They have met with some of the top guys in this class. Names like Keeanu Benton, Karl Brooks, and Mazi Smith are just a couple of prospects that could hear their names called to Pittsburgh within the first three or four rounds. All three can fill those two roles that this team is craving to add to their roster.
