George Pickens is at it again. After the talented Steelers receiver was called for a bogus offensive pass interference call in the first half, Pickens showed why you can't keep a dynamic weapon down for long.
When Pittsburgh's passing offense started to come alive in the second half, Pickens got the Steelers fans in attendance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on their feet with an unbelievable 40-yard catch down the field.
This reception was much more difficult than Pickens made it look. Quarterback Justin Fields unleashed the ball before his receiver broke on his route. Fields pass led Pickens to the middle of the field where the gifted wide-out made the ball adjustment only he could make.
Steelers have a superstar in the making with George Pickens
Pickens' latest spectacular reception is just one of many you can add to his hour-long highlight reel. This catch would have vaulted him well over 100 yards on the game had his deep sideline reception in the first half not been called back from a ridiculous OPI penalty.
Thanks to Pickens' spectacular reception down the field, the Steelers' offense got the spark they needed. This is once again an example of how special this young wide receiver can be.
Pickens is coming off a 2023 season that included over 1,100 yards and 5 touchdowns despite being at the mercy of quarterback Kenny Pickett and offensive coordinator, Matt Canada. At 23 years old and with more competent play-calling, it stands to reason that things will only get better moving forward.
George Pickens had a massive Week 1 performance, and the sky is the limit for one of the best up-and-coming wide receivers in the NFL. The Steelers found themselves a treasure in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
