Kenny Pickett sets 3 massive career milestones in Steelers win vs. Raiders

3. Kenny Pickett sets impressive career high in passer rating
Of all of the things we needed to see from Kenny Pickett early in the second season of his NFL career, this might be the biggest. Some of the major concerns with Pickett early on are that he didn't take great care of the football and that he didn't make enough big-time throws to outweigh costly mistakes.
In Week 3, we witnessed a much better game from Pickett in this regard. There was still one interceptable pass that bounced off the hands of Raiders CB Marcus Peters (though it did look like Pickett and his receiver were not on the same page). However, Pickett made some impressive throws down the field -- including a 72-yard dart to speedster, Calvin Austin III.
Ideally, we would have loved to see Kenny Pickett lead his team to a 30+ point game on the road. We didn't get that from him this week, but if he keeps it up, we might not be far off from those types of performances.
Pickett finished Sunday Night Football in Week 3 with an outstanding 108.5 passer rating. His best prior to this point was his 90.9 passer rating against the Atlanta Falcons last year when he threw for just 197 yards and 1 touchdown. Pickett blew this mark out of the water, and if he can keep this up, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have a chance to win just about every game they play.
