History says to take OVER on Mike Tomlin’s Steelers

Mike Tomlin has been the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 17 years, and not once has he had a sub-.500 record. Why should we expect different in his 18th season? 

The Steelers have injected a ton of talent at the quarterback position while also landing one of the NFL’s top offensive coordinators in Arthur Smith, who may thrive back in his role that he had when the Tennessee Titans became the No. 1 seed in the AFC several years ago. 

It’s unclear who will start between Fields and Wilson, but both are substantial upgrades over the trio of signal callers the team had last season that still made the postseason. For now, it appears that the former Super Bowl winning quarterback will have first crack at being the starting QB. 

The Steelers will benefit from a third place schedule next season despite playing in the difficult AFC North, and if history is any indication, Tomlin should thrive with the impact players on hand and get this team to the .500 mark.
