The Hall of Fame is a surefire sign that football is upon us. It started all the way back in 1962 when ground was broken for the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, and though there were some scheduling errors and cancellations in the past, it continues to this day where the game is played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium.

This is different from any other preseason game, as it includes a ceremony to honor the legends of the game and introduce the new Hall of Fame class. While this game typically consists of backups and many players who won't make the final roster, it serves as a means to pump up the NFL crowd for another exciting season.

The two teams that square off in the Hall of Fame game will play one more preseason game than every other team -- bringing the total up to four. This year, it will be the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets battling it out in Canton.

This is an AFC matchup that includes a pair of quality quarterbacks in Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers, but it's possible that neither QB sees the field in this exhibition contest. For the Jets, lockdown cornerback Darrelle Revis will be enshrined over the weekend before the game as will legendary Browns offensive tackle, Joe Thomas.

You don't have to be a fan of either of these teams to tune in and get your fix of NFL football. The Hall of Fame Game is like the starting gunshot signifying a new season that promises excitement.
