Low-end NFL comparison: Vince Biegel

Wisconsin produces a bunch of the hybrid-type, 3-4 outside linebackers. So it's not too difficult to find a former Badgers comparison for Nick Herbig. Vince Biegel only had modest production during his four-year career at Wisconsin as he lived in the shadow of T.J. Watt, but he was still a solid football player who, like Herbig, was a fourth-round selection.

From a size and athletic standpoint, Herbig and Biegel are very comparable. They played similar roles during their college days, but in the NFL, Biegel mostly played off-ball linebacker. Biegel saw just 9 games of action with the Packers before he was cut going into his second year. After a brief stint with the Saints in 2018, Biegel started 10 games for the Dolphins in 2019 -- recording 59 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and 13 QB hits.

After this, he had trouble sticking on Miami's roster over the next two years. In 2022, Biegel signed with the Ravens but did not appear in a game. Biegel was a good college player, but he didn't have the size, power, or physical makeup to project as anything more than a reserve player at the NFL level.

Nick Herbig was a much more productive player from the same college program, but like Biegel, he lacks upside due to his small frame and tweener size. If he doesn't make big strides early in his career, he could have a Biegel-like route in the NFL.
