The beginning of summer marks the slowest time of the NFL calendar year, but many hardcore football fans can smell the sweet aroma of a new season stirring in the breeze. The start of training camp in late July means that preseason action won't be far behind. That's when we truly know that football is back.

NFL preseason games may seem meaningless to some, but they are a true battlegrounds among many young players. 90-man NFL rosters will swiftly be cut down to just 53 players and athletes fight tooth and nail to try to keep their jobs.

In addition to watching heated positional battles unfold, fans are always anxious to see their new draft class in action. A strong draft can help shape the direction of a franchise, and the preseason stage is where it all begins for NFL rookies. High-profile rookies and new quarterbacks will look to leave their mark on the league right out of the gate.

While the final scores don't matter, there are plenty of things to look for in preseason games and they still seem to captivate audiences. The NFL announced that it will have 23 live broadcasts of preseason games in 2023 on NFL Network. Here are the games you can see on those broadcasts this August. (Steelers games are in bold).
